Dis-Chem transforms reconciliations, clears over 1 million intercompany items

Leading pharmacy group Dis-Chem implemented BEST’s GL reconciliation and clearing solutions, completing 29,215 online reconciliations in the first year with 14% auto-approval while clearing over 1 million intercompany open items.

Dis-Chem

As a leading pharmacy group in South Africa, Dis-Chem manages immense transaction volumes across its fast-growing ecosystem. With siloed, manual legacy processes unable to scale, Dis-Chem sought automation to streamline critical reconciliations and intercompany clearing. By implementing BEST’s GL solutions in 2019, Dis-Chem achieved online efficiencies, risk reduction, and quantified productivity gains.

Our approach

Dis-Chem required an automated system to replace manual Excel reconciliations and introduce online automated, easy-to-track processes to reduce errors. They also needed to replace unreliable matching in Excel and time-consuming manual clearing in SAP.

With advanced algorithms and integration tailored to their SAP landscape, BEST enabled Dis-Chem to clear over 1 million intercompany open items while increasing reconciliation volumes monthly. Automated matching and clearing alleviate manual effort so the finance team can instead focus on value-added exceptions and analytics.

Results

In the first year with BEST GL Recons, Dis-Chem completed 29,215 online reconciliations with 14% auto-approved, eliminating risks from opaque legacy workflows. Standardised controls and consolidated reporting further bolster Dis-Chem’s finance governance.

For Dis-Chem, BEST delivered the scalable automation imperative to streamline its expanding finance function. Quantifiable productivity improvements reinforce reconciliation and clearing as a pillar of operational efficiency and risk management.
